Even the most motivated and disciplined folk can have down days and discouraging thoughts. A series of unexpected events or results from efforts can be discouraging. On top of that, when you are working very hard to complete a project, sometimes good diet and regular exercise take a back seat while you focus on getting the work done.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could take a “happy pill?” While it is true you can choose your own response to external events, let’s face it - even when we are keeping a positive attitude, those moments of self doubt can creep in and seem to motivate other negative feelings. A “happy pill” to eliminate those negative feelings and thoughts would be wonderful to have in the medicine cabinet for just such times, right?
Actually, probably not. Realizing that we can take control of our thoughts and choose which ones we will hold in our minds would be more beneficial than relying on some drug. However, there has been shown to be a relationship between the levels of the B Vitamins in our bodies and depression, anxiety, restlessness and other symptoms. Most of the B Vitamins cannot be stored in your body therefore only with good diet and supplementation can you be assured of getting enough.
If you smoke or drink, you may want to especially consider Vitamin B Complex supplementation as smoking and alcohol are believed to destroy B vitamins in the body. Your diet may be according to whatever “Food Guides” are being published, but your body still may require extra Vitamin B.
Vitamin B used to be considered a single vitamin however later studies showed that what was thought of as Vitamin B to actually be a variety of compounds often co-existing together. That is why you can purchase the individual vitamins like B-1, B-2, B-3, B-12, etc., but also as what is called “Vitamin B Complex” which usually contains all or most of the B Vitamins.
So if you are feeling a bit stressed out, missing some meals and find it difficult to keep that mental positive attitude going, you might want to consider picking up some Vitamin B the next time you are at the Pharmacist or Grocery store if they carry them.
Perhaps that extra edge you need just might be some Vitamin B instead of any “happy pills.”
Here’s to your health while enjoying life and achieving your goals!

The Wealthy Blogger

The Wealthy Blogger is just a guy who makes money online. I quit my full time job and now I earn a good (some would say very good) income through the amazing medium of the Internet. I know what it’s like to be poor. I know what it takes to drag one’s self up by the bootstraps and keep putting one foot in front of the other to get where you want to go....
Ahhh… nothing beats geeky stuff! When I took Nutritional Biochem, I had to remember these. There are a lot of kinds of vitamin B (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid, cobalamine, myo-inositol). Got these from my old notes.
But there’s one thing that I will never forget about Vit. B: if someone is Vitamin B1-deficient (thiamine), that person is likely to have a disease called “beri-beri.” So easy to remember. B for beri-beri.
Good stuff! This only shows that there are other ways to stay happy (without getting high).
