Three months earlier on March 6th, Charles King of Detroit, Michigan test drove his own invented gasoline powered vehicle. Ford was not even the first American to begin producing automobiles in a factory - Ransom Olds began producing automobiles in Michigan in 1900.

Goes to show you - you don’t always have to be the “first” to be successful.
