There are two ways to increase your savings account:

1. Earn more.

2. Spend less.

I quite enjoy the fact that I have resources to be able to pay for things I wanted ten years ago, but couldn’t afford back then. At the same time, it’s always a good idea to see where you can save some money - sometimes of course, the savings in money isn’t worth the time you use up - but then there are times when it can be just plain fun and enjoyable.

Living The Cheap Life has a lot of great ideas on being thrifty. Some of the ideas might be for you, some might not be. I personally take the attitude that sometimes trying to save a few bucks is not the best use of my time, if I could have spent that time saving a few bucks, earning several times the amount I saved.

But on the other hand, I’m Irish (born there and brought up on “Ulster Fry” for breakfast, lunch, or dinner). And I love potatoes. So I very much appreciated Living the Cheap Life’s post on saving money (not sure about time though) by reconsidering processed potato products and making your own from scratch.

Mmmm.. fried potato bread, sausage, eggs, tomato, mushrooms and soda farles! But make sure you get in that hour of “me time” and consider a good long brisk walk!
