The other day, I wrote about how you could monetize your parked domains if you have a Google Adsense account, by using their “Adsense for Domains” feature.
Phillip Barnhart commented on that post and wrote that he has been using “Adsense for Domains” and will be updating his monetization results here. On his first day, he earned the whopping sum of 64 cents! He’s actually done better than I have, but I still think it’s a worthwhile excercise, even if there aren’t any huge earnings as a result.
What is one of the most important if not THE most important criteria for making decisions? INFORMATION! And using Googles Adsense for Domains provides some very interesting information! I just went into my Adsense account, clicked on the Advanced Reports tab. Under “Choose Product,” I selected “Adsense for Domains.”
From there, I could select a time range as well as how to display data. On the right hand side, I selected “Domain Data” instead of “Aggregate Data” and then selected all of the domains that are using the feature.
The results surprised me. What I get to see are the page impressions for each domain. One of them jumped right out at me. It was a domain name that I did not think was all that great, perhaps an average quality name at best, and yet in less than three days, it had almost 1,000 impressions.
For a website, this is not that terrific, but bare in mind, we’re talking about a domain name that has not ever had a website and of course, no content. It’s just been sitting, waiting for me to maybe do something with it. In other words, lots of folk have had some whim to simply type that particular domain name into their browser to see what was there.
The didn’t go through any search engine to find it because it does not exist in any search engine – at least content related search engines. This tells me that my next project, after I’ve completed the present one in regard to building a content related website will probably be something to do with this domain name that seems to get traffic just because people type it into their browser url address bar.
So if you have lots of parked domains, it might be a very good idea to try out the Adsense for Domains product, just for the value of the information you get.

I know what it’s like to be poor. I know what it takes to drag one’s self up by the bootstraps and keep putting one foot in front of the other to get where you want to go....
