A quick update to this post I wrote earlier:

I forgot to mention that there was another item of “success” – minor but important to those who rely on Google search engine rankings.  I mentioned that I have a site that I had let go dormant for some time.  Six years ago, it ranked quite well for a major search phrase in its particular niche.  However,  in the past six years, other sites in the same niche have come along, and combined with my lettting this one go dormant, this site a month ago had the 643 search result position in Google for that keyword phrase.  Disheartening? Challenging!

By adding content and submitting a few articles to an article directory, two weeks ago, the site had the 360th search result position in Google.  An improvement – but not quite good enough. I know, some would suggest that aiming for a top 60 position on a major keyword phrase is too big a challenge to take on. But the site does rank well for a number of long tail key word search phrases.  So I have been focussing on that major keyword phrase, which gets about 450,000 searches a month. There are also a few others I’ve been working on as well.

Today, that site now ranks 141 as of an hour ago. I say an hour ago, because the search results can bounce around a bit during any 24 hour period.  Yesterday, it was 146, earlier this morning, it was 139.   My goal in the next month is to get in the top 60 – or on the third page of Google’s search results. That will mean a large increase in traffic.  This will be accomplished with some site tweaking and some keyword linking in articles submitted to search engines mainly, and some other promotional methods to a lesser extent. I’ll keep you posted how it works out.

Adsense

As I reported in this post, last month I experienced my best ever Adsense Revenue day in a year.  Well, I am pleased to report that today,  I’ve already broken through that record of last month by about 2% and the day still has another 4 hours to go.  All through some efforts, learning some new skills, and applying them.

It’s nice to have multiple streams of income  especially in these uncertain economic times.
